Customer Reviews Improved on Perfection Date: 2008-10-04 | Rating: 5 I owned one of the first HB Big Mouths ... it came time to get another ( I cracked the bowl ) This version is wonderful all the blades store inside , the chopping blade is lower and can chop smaller amounts . The power is amazing. The suction cups on the bottom hold it in place but don't require a weight lifting belt to get it free from the counter , like the first version did. I gave away my new KitchenAid in favor of this product , the KitchenAid was damaged in one light use. I have a large family 7 kids , 2 parents , 2 employees and this Big Mouth can handle what ever I through at it. I highly recommend this product. Not so impressed... Date: 2009-04-07 | Rating: 3 We liked this much better then the garbage black n decker cheap one we bought 2 years ago, but the plastic hub that holds the top slicer stripped in 3 weeks of use on this. The motor is strong, but putting hard foods like carrots in puts wear and tear on that hub very quickly. One turned sideways and wedged itself in the cutting blade jamming the machine, and the plastic hub stripped. If it was metal there wouldn't be an issue, but stripping in 3 weeks is obviously a design flaw. |

We bought this product last winter and have not used it until this summer. Wow! What a great little product. This has made our job much easier. 5 or 6 pulses and the load is done. With our arthritis problems, this is a life saver. wrong item Date: 2007-07-26 | Rating: 1 I ordered the deluxe food processor and got the 3-cup in error. Features - 350 watts with 2 speeds - Continuous feed chute - In bowl blade storage - Extra large 8 cup bowl capacity - Includes bonus lid for bowl Product Description Prep Star Food Processor 70550RL has a large 8 cup capacity. The food processor has a continuous feed chute and a stainless steel processing blade as well as a reversible slicer/shredder disc. It also features in-bowl blade storage. Keep items fresher with the bonus chill lid. Amazon.com Review With a 350-watt motor and a 7-cup bowl, this inexpensive tool puts a family-size food-processor's versatility and ease into a cook's hands at a bargain price. The processor's S-shaped stainless-steel blade kneads bread dough and chops and minces a variety of foods, from nuts to meat to cheese to vegetables and fruits. The reversible stainless-steel disc blade slices and shreds fruits and vegetables, and, with two speeds to choose from and a pulse control, the processor offers classic flexibility for fine work. Beginners will appreciate the control panel's chart, which lists the appropriate blades and speeds for specific tasks. The processor measures 12-1/2 by 8-1/4 by 7 inches and sits on rubber feet to prevent skidding. The bowl, cover, and blades are dishwasher-safe. --Fred Brack Customer Reviews Love this food processor! Date: 2000-10-30 | Rating: 5 I purchased this FP 4 1/2 years ago and it is still running strong. I have grated, diced, and mixed well over 1500 pounds of food and have yet to experience any problems.Christmas, 2 years ago, I was making a dough that was so thick, the motor was barely going, even on the high setting. I was horrified to see smoke pouring out of the back of the stand, so I shut it off and figured that I had killed it for certain. Not so! After cooling down for half hour or so, it was up and running again as though nothing had happened.I use this when I puree my pumpkin each fall. Over the course of 3 or 4 days, I generally do around 200-300 pounds of pumpkin and this FP has sailed through with out any problems. This includes running times into the hours. (4 or 5 hours at a time without any longer than a 30 second break between batches)I have dropped it... it fell into a sink of water...it was in a box that fell down a flight of stairs... I have basically done anything and everything one would think would cause it to be destroyed and yet it just won't quit!I would recommend this FP to anyone looking for a workhorse for a good price. I would be lost without mine and consider it the most important small appliance in my kitchen. Wonderful! Date: 2003-01-15 | Rating: 5 The product does the job. It can chop, mince, puree, you name it. I found it very useful and I am extremely happy with the purchase. The product is powerful 350W, has large capacity. The product can even ground meat. I no longer buy ground meat in a package off a shelf from grocery stores. You can control fat and lean. You can buy a block of cheese and use this product to shred them. Carrot cake? This is what you need. The best of all, you can save money that way even more with this product. Pulse action allows you to make pie dough as well. I can not stress enough how easy the clean up is. All you need to do is to quickly rinse them and place them in your dishwasher. Anything else, you simply wipe them off with a damp cloth. Nice food processor for your basic needs at a great price Date: 2006-05-20 | Rating: 5 I bought this about 3 months ago for my mom, and so far we haven't had any problems. Overall, I am satisfied with the product. We use it to puree, knead and grind things. The large capacity bowl is just the perfect size. I haven't used the slicing blade yet, but I guess the chill lid is useful to collect the sliced stuff outside. The mouth is a bit small unless you don't mind cutting up things to feed through the mouth. If it were up to me, I would change the design and make it less bulky and easier to store. I like the big mouth food processors that don't have the control on the side, taking up less space. But for $25, this is a pretty good one and functions quite well. If you buy it, make sure the bowl and the lid are well "locked" in place before you power on the unit, otherwise it won't run. Works like a charm! Date: 2006-02-23 | Rating: 5 I have never owned a food processor before and this machine truly does what it says it's going to do. Chops, blends, and is easy to use. My boyfriend and I are now obsessed with making hummus from scratch and using it to make soup and purees. I highly recommend this easy to use, easy to clean affordable machine! A Remarkable product Date: 2007-01-04 | Rating: 5 This food processor is the easiest to use, clean up is a "snap" food does not get caught up in the shoot, everything from cheese to carrots grates up into the best texture for salads, oriental dishes, & the cheese grated in this item comes out firm, with each piece firm not "globed" into one chunk. I love my Hamilton Beach food processor & wouldn't trade it for any other product on the market to this date. I have always had problems with a food processor, getting it apart, cleaning it has always been a "call the husband for help" ordeal, NOT this Hamilton Beach, I take it apart with ease, put it together with ease. I could reccomend this item for people with hand problems I feel that strongly about loving this item. |

It's very clean, and quite and at the same time it works great and is very inexpensive! No longer abale to get parts Date: 2007-08-29 | Rating: 4 I like my machine and it runs great. I noticed small hairline cracks all over the s-blade. I called hamilton beach and they don's sell replacement parts for this processor anymore. They wouln't even give me a discount on a new one. I am now throwing away a perfectly good chopper. Worked well for me! Date: 2003-08-13 | Rating: 4 This has been a great food processor for me! I bought model #70600 in about 1995 and have been very happy with it. It's still kicking. (I really think model 70600 is the earlier version of this 70700. My 70600 looks exactly like this down to the buttons on the top and the blades.) I use it to slice, grate, and puree. I used it just last week to grate sweet potatoes. I've used it for pizza dough. I haven't had any problems leaving it running (although I haven't tried running it for extended periods with really thick items like bread dough). It may not be the best food processor out there but it gets the job done and is much cheaper than the others. It has helped me make easy work of all my veggie recipes that require a lot of chopping of a lot of vegetables. Plus, after 8 years I just called their customer service and they're sending me a replacement "disc shaft" for free as a courtesy. (I accidentally chewed mine up in the garbage disposal.) What were they thinking???? Date: 2003-10-11 | Rating: 3 This is my second processor. I don't remember the first model but it was great. This one works great except for the top coming apart. Why would they screw two pieces together, what were they thinking? The first one had a one piece molded plastic top. Everytime I grate cheese a large chunk gets wedged between the disc and the top. It has ripped all of the screws out and separated the two pieces so I can no longer use it as a grater, which is why I'm on this site, trying to purchase either a new top or scews to repair the old one poorly designed food processor Date: 2001-01-03 | Rating: 1 Santa bought one of these for my wife. We quickly learned that the height of the space between the top of the cutting plate and the bottom of the top cover for the bowl is so large that anything you try to slice, grate, whatever, will still be a big chunk of food before the slicing or grating is complete. This item would work fine if you don't mind picking the large chunks of "sliced or grated" food out of the bowl every time you run a separate piece of food through the cutting area ... I'm returning it today. |

The Big Mouth food processor can handle whole tomatoes, potatoes and other large foods. The specially designed food chute grabs the food and helps you achieve even slices for the whole item. With 450 watts and 4 speeds, you can prepare any food. This model comes with an extra slicing disk and spatula. Customer Reviews A lotta power at a reasonable price. Date: 2005-08-08 | Rating: 5 After cooking for my family for 25 years I broke down and decided to buy a food processor. After researching here, I decided this Hamilton Beach Big Mouth was the biggest workhorse for the littlest price. I was right. It is very easy to learn how to operate, it +chops, slices, and grates in seconds, and best of all is its "big mouth." Yep, just stick a whole onion, whole zucchini, or whatever in there and out it comes without dragging out your cutting board and knife to cut it half first. I also purchased separately the french fry cutter blade, which makes awesome fries at just the right size. A piece of advice: DO NOT go to Walmart, Target, etc. and get this processor without that bonus blade! You really need that as the other blade slices very very thin. Overall, I am VERY happy with this purchase. I keep it on my counter so I can use it without the pain of getting it out. It looks nice there. Very Impressed Date: 2005-06-01 | Rating: 5 This product is wonderful. I received it as a gift, and was disappointed at first that it wasn't a Cuisinart! However, after using it for the past two months, I don't think I could be more satisfied with anything else. Here are some reasons: *It has attachments for grating cheese, slicing food, and finely chopping food. *It has four different speeds plus a pulse speed, which allows you to chop just for a second if needed. *It has a "mouth" that is enlargeable and allows you to easily fit whole fruits or vegetables without removing the top. *Its 14 cup capacity is enough to make a huge amount of food. I recently made enough salsa to feed an army in just one batch. *It has a powerful motor; I've never had it stop or even sound like it's having trouble- I have put in four whole onions, and this processor finely chopped them in literally about 5 or 7 seconds. *It comes with a booklet that recommends the speed and amount of time different vegetables should be chopped, depending on what type of look you're going for (i.e. french fry slice, finely chopped, grated). *It has a safety feature that requires the top to be locked before the machine can run- safe both for the person putting things in, and for any little ones who may be playing with things on the counter. *It has suction cups on the bottom which keep the machine in one place while it's running. They are a bit confusing at first, as it is hard to figure out how to get them to stop sticking so you can move the processor, but I found that you can solve this problem by just sliding the machine around the counter. *This product is easy to store. While you are not using it, all of its attachments fit neatly inside it, so it doesn't use up any extra room, and so the attachments won't get lost. I just leave mine on my countertop. *It is easy to clean, and all parts are dishwasher safe. *Just a reminder- This product is a food processor, not a blender, so the closest to blending you will get is very finely chopped. If you are looking for something that will blend as well as process food, you may want to look for a product that is both a blender and a food processor in one. This is easily the most used product in my kitchen. It's just as good as a Cuisinart -- and half the price! I highly recommend it. So easy to use...So little to pay! Date: 2005-01-10 | Rating: 5 I bought this about a week ago and it is fantastic! I love how you don't have to do any chopping beforehand, you just put the whole fruit or vegetable in and away it goes! It is really easy to clean too, it is even dishwasher safe! This product has a great price tag too! I would recommend this product...it has been great so far! Best home food processor I have owned Date: 2006-04-13 | Rating: 5 I have purchased a series of 6 or 7 food processors over the past 15 years. Other than by hand blender, the Big Mouth is the most functional, flexible and powerful food processor I have ever owned. We added this machine to our bridal registry after seeing a commercial for the Big Mouth. The commercial was humorous, but they did not lie about the machine's capabilities. You really can fit in a huge variety of foods in to the feeding tube. Whole tomatoes, quartered heads of iceberg lettuce, cucumbers, blocks of chocolate fit right in and can be shredded in less time than it takes for you to read this review. For example, we like to make a brazilian type of salad with carrots, red cabbage, onion and garlic. Making it by hand takes 20-30 minutes so we used to not make it all that often. With the Big Mouth all I do is quarter a red cabbage and drop the quarters in to the food tube with a couple of cloves of garlic and a whole red onion. Using the fine shredder it takes less than 10 seconds to shred these ingredients. I then add in 5-6 peeled carrots and 10 seconds later they are shredded. Add a little vinegarette and we're done in under 5 minutes - peeling time for the carrots included. A couple of nice design touches round out an impressive machine: 1 - The chopping blade is uniquely shaped and slightly serrated. It seems to be able to cut through tough ingredients better than the blades on other food processors I have owned. 2 - The work bowl is also slightly angled outward so that food tends to stick less to the side. This comes in handy when pureeing soups, sauces etc. 3 - The speed/pulse dial allows for a range of slicing dicing options. 4 - The suction cups on the bottom really do hold this thing in place. This is important because this is a powerful machine that generates a lot of torque. 5 - The suction cups on my machine have not fallen off despite a lot of use. Most machines I have owned in the past lose their suction cups or little sticky 'feet' within a couple of months. 6 - The work bowl is huge. I have used this to puree a couple of quarts of tomatoes in one shot. No need to puree in batches - an inevitably messy process. 7 - The expanding feeding tube is amazing. I salute the engineer that came up with that little innovation. We have been using it now for 7 months with not a single problem. I highly recommend this food processor, either for yourself or as a gift. Customer Reviews WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD Date: 2005-11-29 | Rating: 5 What a work and time saver in the kitchen! I've never tried to calculate the number of hours I've spent in front of a cutting board, knife in hand, slicing tomatoes, shredding carrots, chopping lettuce. Nor do I care to be reminded of how often I've not made a dish we love simply because of the time involved in slicing or shredding. This shredder/slicer from Hamilton Beach is an amazing small appliance that prepares lettuce for tacos before I can turn around, and shreds carrots for our favorite carrot-raisin salad before I can take the raisins out of the box! Not only does it shred or slice whatever I need in a minute's time, but the result is so much more attractive than I could ever do by hand. To make the task even easier, the Change-A-Bowl comes with - you guessed it, extra bowls so that there's no need to stop and wash the permanent bowl if you're preparing several different ingredients. Three GladWare bowls are included in the box. Plus the Change-A-Bowl comes with two discs - the slice/shred disc and the fine shred/crinkle-cut disc (You won't believe those French fries!) All of the parts are dishwasher safe, so the clean-up is a breeze. With holidays fast approaching this is one appliance that will be used over and over again. It weighs just 8 pounds. For salsas, the low speed lets me keep the ingredients chunky. For sauces, the higher speed can easily puree most ingredients. My favorite item to use it for is onions and it saves alot of tears. The large bowl not only holds alot, but is also very easy to clean. I highly recommend this food chopper for frequent or casual dicing cook. It Works Like A Charm Date: 2001-01-21 | Rating: 5 I ordered this the early part of December, so had it in time for the Christmas season. I am so very pleasantly surprised about the power and efficiency of this one. It is small so storage is a breeze, and the capacity of the bowl is just right for any chopping, etc. that you need to do. This is my "new favorite" appliance. I find it's very handy Date: 2006-12-03 | Rating: 5 I bought this exact thing back in 2000, and my husband and I still use it fairly regularly. It's great for smaller jobs, like mincing onions, making salsa, etc. I do notice that you can't put too much liquid in it w/out it spilling through the mid-section and onto the counter, but I think it's just common sense if you need to make a larger amount of food, use a bigger processor (or use a blender). Aside from the spillage issue, sometimes it doesn't chop down all the food- it misses pieces, which is annoying. But I can say that the blade is still razor sharp after all these years. I like it. It Works, but... Date: 2009-01-27 | Rating: 4 It works but can be a bit messy during clean up. It does make excellent chicken or tuna salad, however the blades sit so low that onions and other veggies are slung out of the way (upward) before being fully shredded. I wonder why they don't put a set of blades all along the shaft of the cup? I also wonder why things can't fit together without gaping holes, but I guess that's what makes us human. Choose Your Ingredients Wisely Date: 2001-07-31 | Rating: 3 This is incredibly handy, compact, and powerful. I've found that it's great for baking preparation, chopping nuts, mincing vegetables, and blending thicker sauces (My peanut sauce came out great!).However, there are a few problems I can't overlook:1.) Do not fill the processor more than half way (This reduces the capacity to about 2 cups) -- especially if you are making beverages or thin sauces. When you remove the canister to pour the contents out, the contents sometimes spill through the center of the canister (all over your kitchen counter), even if you have left in the blade attachment. 2.) Ice is a no-go. I almost burnt out the motor trying to make margaritas. (I was on vacation and accidentally left my blender at home.)If you need a mini chopper select projects (e.g. baking, salad making), this is a good investment. However, if you need more flexibility and power, I would suggest buying a larger model. |

It's quick, powerful, and dishwasher safe. Sometimes it seems a little too big for smaller jobs (like chopping half an onion or some herbs), and it doesn't fit on the counter under my cabinets because it's too tall. But I love it! Fast as lightening!!!!! Date: 2006-12-01 | Rating: 5 I bought this item thinking it would make life easier in the kitchen...and it did!!!! We like fried potatoes and onions at our house...before it was a rare treat because I hated peeling and slicing the potatoes. Since I got the chopper, all I do is put the whole potato (skin and all, after washed) in the large mouth (if the potato is too big, I cut it in half), turn on the chopper, and it does the job lightning quick. The container is large enough, that all I have to do is leave the newly sliced potatoes in it and go ahead and slice my onion into it also....take off the lid when done and dump the potatoes and onions in the pan. Clean up is a breeze. I just throw everything in the dishwasher and it comes out like brand new. One thing, when you get this item, it comes with paperwork to order a blade that makes thicker slices. For tomatoes you need this because the blade that comes with the big mouth slices tomatoes paper thin and they won't stay together when you pick them up. LOVE IT! Date: 2006-11-15 | Rating: 5 I have had this for about a year now and I still LOVE it. It can handle most food without having to cut it up first! I have dropped an entire steak in it with some chili seasonings and pulsed it a few times with perfect chili meat results. It's just a bonus that it mixes the spices into the ground meat so nicely! (I have also used left over roasts without having to cut it into pieces) I make hummus all the time in it as well. Takes about 5 minutes. There are so many uses for it! Great machine for a super price Date: 2006-08-01 | Rating: 5 The Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Food Processor is wonderful. We are raw foodists and use this machine at least twice a day. It is easy to use, pretty quiet, doesn't walk all over the counter because of suction cup feet, easy to clean. The large mouth makes it so easy to just about anything in the processor, too. This is a very hardy machine and does a super job. It is a tall machine, so if your cabinets won't adjust it may be a problem. Bigmouth food processor Date: 2006-02-24 | Rating: 5 I love my Bigmouth processor. It was the least expensive and among the largest capacity (14 cup) food processors. The only improvement I can see would to have other blades for different slice thickness and special cutters (Like French fry and Julian cutter blades) |

AND......SO EASY TO CLEAN. Date: 2008-01-15 | Rating: 5 This is a great little machine for the price and does a great job if you do not need to process large amounts. I use it to puree and chop cooked foods for a family member who has special needs. It has a generous 3 cup capacity which is more than enough for individual portions. I have pureed cooked meatballs, beef stew, roasted chicken and turkey, poached fish, crab cakes, tuna and egg salads very successfully and was able to serve my SN family member the same foods that the rest of the family eats. You also can use this little gadget to create a batch of very smooth pesto or green goddess salad dressing. I'm buying a second one as a back-up and to be able to process more than one food at a time. I hardly ever pull out the huge heavy duty Cuisinart (maybe once a year) as it is such a chore to put together and clean afterwards. For everyday small portions of food the Hamilton Beach 3 cup chopper is a pleasure and a breeze to use. better than a 1.5 cup chopper Date: 2008-03-11 | Rating: 5 I am extremely pleased with this product. I had a 1.5 cup chopper that worked ok for very small amounts of food, but things like a large bell pepper, cut into finger sized pieces, would get tangled up and not cycle through the blades. This 3 cup chopped fits a lot more stuff in it's bowl, and so far, has worked perfectly for me. It is much easier to clean than a full sized food processor, and takes up a lot less space. Ideal for making small batches of guacamole, salsa, soup, stir fry, ect. It's noisier than my full sized food processor, but quieter than the cheapp 1.5 cup chopper I bought. Very Useful Kitchen Gadget Date: 2008-12-22 | Rating: 5 I love this 3 cup food processor! I use this for my everyday family meal cooking. Very helpful in chopping carrots in small bits. I always add carrots or any vegetable to ground meats so that I can sneak some vegetables to my kid's meals. This chopper do a good job in chopping carrots that my kids dont even notice the veggy in their meatballs, burger, spaghettie sauce, etc... To get better results, I chop the carrots first into cubes and then toss them in this chopper and I do shake the chopper to get better results because it does not do a good job when you dont shake them. For the price of this chopper, I dont have complains and dont mind at all preping the carrots and shaking the chopper because I hate manually chopping hard raw carrots into tiny bits, it is very tedious and dangerous! I do have the very much expensive and 'state of the art' cuisineart food processor - which I use very rarely because it takes a lot of time to set-up and clean afterwards. So for everyday-family meal-chopping chores, I will definitely recommend this. It's cheap, convenient, and very useful. I tried using this once to chop bell peppers and celery and it turn into a juicy salsa, so not recommended if your NOT making salsa. But if you want salsa, this machine is great! My sister makes salsa and shrimp cocktails all the time and she uses this chopper all the time. So definitely recommended. By the way, I had mine for three years already and it is still working! Hamilton Beach Food Chopper Date: 2009-02-16 | Rating: 5 The Hamilton Beach chopper is great if you are looking for an inexpensive food chopper that you can use around the house. It works great and cleans up easily. My Dad needed this item and I didn't know it. Date: 2009-06-23 | Rating: 5 My Father only has five teeth and won't get dentures. The food chopper has made possible to give him his favorite food; chopped and smooth. His blood sugar has gone down as well as his sodium level. |

It chops well and the shredding blade works great shredding cheese. We also made home made salsa. It was exactly what I was looking for in a food processor. Some may say it is a bit loud but it does not bother me. I bought it at walmart for $54.88 I am really enjoying it! Love it - so far!! Date: 2010-01-13 | Rating: 5 Purchased this at a local kitchen outlet store on sale for $39.99! Took it home and made a delicious salsa and a spinach dip. I spare no expense on only the best. Kitchenaid mixers, Le Creuset whatever, All Clad this and that. But one day I was short on cash and decided I needed a food processor. I saw this in a grocery store for, like, $20. I said, "Screw it, this will work until I can afford a $100 Cuisinart." That was a year ago, and I have had no desire the replace this one yet. I grind nuts in it. I've made big batches of pesto in it. Hell, I make pie crust in it on a REGULAR basis (Making pie crust in a food processor, though much easier then using a pastry blender by hand, is absolute HELL on a food processor.) . This little bad boy takes the abuse and asks for more. If it blows up tomorrow, Ill have gotten my moneys worth, and even if I have the money for a better name brand, I would probably just go out and buy another Hamilton Beach. I'm only giving it 5 stars because Amazon wont let me give it 10. Seriously, 'Worth the Money' is an understatement. Excellent! Date: 2007-11-06 | Rating: 5 I was looking for a good food processor to make beer cheese for the winter. I use to just use an electric hand mixer before and realised I needed something to give it a much creamier texture. After checking out a few differant brands and models, which I'm sure are very good too, I decided on this Hamilton Beach 6 cup food processor. Bring it looked well built, blades appeared good and strong, a good name brand and 6 cups being not to small so I can make up a big batch of beer cheese, but not to small so its not a burden to clean. All I can say is I am extremely impressed with this thing. Please mind, this is my first food processor, as I have recently been getting into cooking. But this is incrediblly powerful. I really like the simple features, on and pulse, which pulse instantly turns off when you let go. I found this to be great when I'm adding touch ups to my beer cheese. This product is very well built too. Its definatly not flimsy and something that can break easily if you so much as look at it wrong, not saying to purposly drop it off a building though. But the bowl and base is very sturdy and strong, which shows a well design and good craftsmanship put into its design and making. The On/Off/Pulse switch is really nice when your working with a project and need a constant hands on, as its nice and big, quick to use unlike some of the 'button' kinds I have seen. Just rest your hand up on it and have at it. It is so easy to clean its not funny. Just a soak in hot water with alittle soap. The blades are nice and sharp, not the real thin gauge metal that can bend sideways like paper which I seen on some of the cheaper ones. A superb saftey feature where you have to lock the top lid over the bowl or it wont turn on. Happened to me and I thought it broke, being my first processor, my mistake on that and feel silly because of it. But the shoot on the lid needs to be on the opposite side of the On/Off/Pulse switch, which is pretty neat, as you add food or ingrediances and if any spill it won't get on the power switch to get messy. Basically all in all, this is a well built 6 cup, easy to store, easy to use, nice looking inexpensive food processor that is just awsome. As I said, I originally got this for making beer cheese which whips it up creamy perfectly, but I enjoy this so much I have been making sasa's, other cheese spreads and even use the chopping blade that comes with it to make sliced potatos for home fries. For the price, it can't be beat. I never thought I would say this about a food processor, but I won't part with my Hamilton Beach 6 cup'er. Enjoy! great little appliance at a great price Date: 2007-09-22 | Rating: 5 I bought this after looking at several others in comparison and this got good reviews, to which I add mine. I came into a nice bunch of basil to make pesto with and after trying it in a blender I knew it was time to get a food processor. I have no other experience with them, but this model does all it's supposed to do, is easy to clean and doesn't take up a huge amount of storage or counter space. A+ appliance! Date: 2008-09-21 | Rating: 5 This food processor (my first ever) has quickly become my favorite kitchen appliance. I never realized that I had so many uses for it and find myself eager (yes eager) to use it daily. It has an extremely sharp chopping blade (grinds nuts to powder in less than 5 seconds, perfect for making homemade nut butters) and veggies take only a few pulses until they are chopped small. Be careful of the blade when it is sitting in the sink ready to be washed- already cut myself reaching into the sink, proving how sharp it really is. The clean up is a breeze, soak in soapy water for a few minutes. It's lightweight, but very sturdy, making the constant in/out motion to/from the cabinets easy. There are 2 downsides: (1) The chute is narrow, meaning that things like sweet potatoes must be halved vertically before being sliced, resulting in funny looking scalloped potatoes. (2) The shredder shreds SMALL! I was hoping for longer shreds of things like cabbage/carrots. Overall, buy it. The size is perfect for a household of 1-4. Price is great for a fabulous appliance! Better Than The Higher Priced Ones Date: 2008-12-27 | Rating: 5 I've owned this food processor for several years, and also own a more expensive one [Kitchen type] and I always reach for the Hamilton Beach. It is lighter in weight [though it has plenty of heft and sits nicely on the counter] Assembly is quick and simple, straightforward, and doesn't take half an hour to set up, and does the job quickly and efficiently. Isn't that really all we want? It has never failed, whether it is chopping fruit or nuts, making pesto, making dough. I use the Pulse feature a lot, as it will grind up cranberries in about 3-4 pulses. And pesto takes no longer. A snap to use! I am looking to get one for my Mom, as she is elderly, and I think this would be perfect for her. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another one. The price is awesome considering the way it performs. The plastic bowl is heavy, durable, easy to clean. |

Date: 2008-05-19 | Rating: 5 I bought this food processor last Fall to process fruit for jam making. I pick my fruit in the summer, and freeze it to make jam in the Fall to take advantage of the cooler weather. Jam making can be a hot job, especially in Texas! In previous years, I chopped my fruits by hand, but this year, my husband and I went overboard and picked pounds and pounds of strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and peaches. Then a friend gave me figs! There was no way I wanted to process all of that by hand, so I started shopping for a food processor. I found several good reviews of the Hamilton Beach 70670 and it was a great price, so after a little more comparison shopping decided to take the plunge. When I got ready to process fruit, this processor performed like a champ. The only issue I had was making sure I gauged the pulse correctly, as a few of my batches of fruit ended up almost pureed, which was not what I was aiming for! It plowed through hours of processing for 3 days of a long weekend, then several 2 day weekens. And cleanup was so easy. This is not my first food processor, but the Hamilton Beach compares very favorably with others I have used. I really love it and look forward to my next jam making season. I use it other times for smaller jobs, but the big workout for this baby is in the Fall. great value, great capacity Date: 2009-05-31 | Rating: 5 This processor wins hands-down in its price range. Plenty of power, and the work bowl is designed to contain more liquid than most. The limit to liquid capacity is the height of the central shaft tube of the work bowl. In the majority of food processors, including 'high end' models, the liquid capacity is often less than half of the overall capacity if the central opening was sealed. Typical '10 cup models' may only hold 4 cups of liquid. In this '10 cup' model, the central shaft tube extends much farther up into the work bowl, giving significantly more liquid capacity; overflow into the central shaft tube is at 6 1/2 cups. If you need to maximize liquid capacity, get this one! Even if not, it is a very good machine at a very reasonable price. Better than I expected Date: 2009-03-01 | Rating: 5 I bought the Hamilton Beach Chef Prep when Cuisinart shipped me the wrong size replacement work bowl twice! Enough, I said. When I saw the Hamilton Beach in person I thought it was flimsy and cheap (about 1/4 the price of a Cuisinart, so why not?) The work bowl is light and made of a cloudy plastic, not the tough Lexan of more expensive machines. But experience has proved the Hamilton Beach an excellent small appliance and a good value. It is well designed: lock and unlock images make it clear which way to turn the work bowl to release it. A dot on the lid shows how to align it. The two disk blades are reversible and make distinctly different cuts and slices. The basic cutting blade is sharp, easy to put on, remove and clean. The machine rests on suction cups that are just strong enough to hold it in place where you want it, but release when you choose to do that. I have to admit, the motor is NOISY, but it is very efficient. A few seconds usually does the job. I use my food processor almost every day and am very satisfied. Better than other, more expensive ones. Date: 2009-04-06 | Rating: 5 The 70670 is one of the best food processors out there. I did my homework before buying. It is fast, powerful, and looks good on the counter. It even chops small quantities of nuts without leaving big chunks. The light weight construction means that, for folks with a small counter top, pulling it in and out of storage is a snap. The light weight, however, has one drawback. The unit has a tendency to jump around when doing tougher tasks. It is also a little on the loud side. I had a Robot Coup unit for 20 years that I adored. However, time took its toll. This does just about everything as well. Some extensive processes like humus take a little longer than old faithful. However, in most regards, it is a very worthy successor. You could pay a lot more for a Kitchenaid, etc., but you'd kick yourself once you saw this baby. Superior food processor Date: 2009-01-05 | Rating: 5 I have searched for the perfect coleslaw maker and this food processor is it. You can also julienne, and it will also grind your onions and peppers in order to make a smooth sauce which is what I prefer. It comes with two discs which is wonderful and the price is right. My old Hamilton Beach was extremely old and I searched for the perfect food processor and this is it. One could not ask for higher quality.! |
